Ingredients
  • 1 kg raw banana plantain (peeled and thinly sliced)
  • 4 cup cooking oil (for deep-frying)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Peel the semi-ripe raw banana variety of saba.

  2. If you have a mandolin slicer, slice the banana. Alternatively, you may hand slice them into extremely thin slices. Set it aside and allow it to dry for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Heat the frying oil in a large pot and add the butter. Adjust the heat level.

  4. Deep-fry bananas in batches for a minute or two on both sides until crisp or golden brown.

  5. Use a slotted spoon to take out the fried banana chips from the fryer and drain them on paper towels.

  6. Sprinkle with brown sugar and salt to taste. Then toss to mix.

  7. Serve immediately, or you can keep it and consume it later. Just put it in a re-sealable plastic bag. Keep it sealed and it will last for about a week.

  8. Share and enjoy eating!
