Craving a crispy, sweet, and utterly satisfying snack? Look no further than turon—the Philippines' beloved street food delight! This recipe puts a delightful twist on the classic banana turon by adding gooey cheese fillings, making it even more irresistible.
Often called banana lumpia or deep-fried banana rolls, turon is a staple among Filipino street food favorites. You’ll find vendors selling these golden, caramelized treats on bustling corners, their irresistible aroma drawing in hungry passersby.
The traditional version features ripe saba bananas, sometimes paired with sweet jackfruit (langka) slices, all rolled in a thin lumpia wrapper and coated with caramelized brown sugar for that perfect crunch. But this cheese-filled variation takes it to the next level—melty cheese oozes with every bite, balancing the sweetness of the bananas for a truly mouthwatering experience.
Whether you’re enjoying it as an afternoon merienda or a dessert, one thing’s for sure: this crispy, cheesy, caramelized turon is pure indulgence!
In this recipe we will make turon banana cheese. Our main ingredient is Saba (or Cardava or Plantain in English), a common kind of banana in the Philippines, which is commonly used for making turon. Stuff it with sliced cheese fillings to bring more delicious, unique flavor. It is an easy and satisfying snack.
Ingredients

20 Lumpia Wrapper (Spring Roll)
4tbsp Brown Sugar
