Instruction:

  1. Gather or pick fresh malunggay or moringa leaves from the tree. Or you may buy malunggay leaves at your local market .
  2. Separate the leaves from the stalks and stems. Remove the dead yellow leaves.
    Note: their another method to air dry the malunggay leaves you may apply. Wash it tie it in a bunch and hung it to dry the leaves for a couple of days.
  3. Wash the malunggay or moringa leaves to remove dust, insects, etc. Shake the excess water off the leaves.
  4. Put it outside in an enclosed place. Air dry for 2 to 3 days till they are brittle to the touch. Do not dry under the sun to preserve the nutrients.
  5. Roast in a hot pan over low heat for 30 seconds, or about a minute. Make sure not to over roast or burn the dried malunggay leaves.
  6. Use a blender to grind the malunggay leaves into powder. Grind it until you achieve the desired fine texture.
    Note: If you don’t have a blender at home, you can crush the malunggay leaves by hand as you can until turns almost to powder.
  7. Using a finer strainer, sift it to separate the powdered leaves from larger particles and small stems. Disregard the filtered larger particles and small stems. Then move the malunggay powder in a container.
  8. Keep the malunggay powder in an airtight container to preserve the nutrients, and store it in a cool, dry place. Keep the container closed at all times to keep moisture out and to preserve a longer shelf life.

How to store your malunggay powder?
Malunggay powder should be stored in a cool, dry area in an airtight container to maintain the nutrients. For longer shelf life and to prevent moisture, keep the container closed at all times.
Without preservatives, the malunggay or moringa powder will last up to six months. It can be used to make hot tea or iced tea, as well as smoothies, shakes, salads, or add it as an ingredient to a dish.
