Cut the chicken into serving portions.
Prepare the spices and vegetables to the desired cuts.
Heat cooking oil in a pan or large skillet over medium-high heat.
Pan-fry the carrot until it changes color and forms a light crust at the edges. Remove from pan.
On the same pan, sauté the onion and garlic for a few seconds or until soft and fragrant.
Add the chicken and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the color changes to a light brown. Stir regularly.
Add the soy sauce and cook, stirring for 3 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce.
Add water, a chicken broth cube, and bay leaves. Bring the liquid to a boil.

Season with salt and ground black pepper, to taste.
Cover again and simmer for 5 minutes.
