Ingredients
Instructions
Wash and pat dry the malunggay leaves before cutting them finely.
In a large mixing basin, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Mix in the finely chopped malunggay leaves until fully combined.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the egg, oil or melted butter, milk, and instant dry yeast. Mix until completely combined.
Note: If desired, the milk can be replaced with water.Transfer the dough to a kneading mat and lightly sprinkle with flour or oil. Knead the dough until it is smooth and pliable.
Form the dough into a ball and lightly coat it with oil. Place in a large, dry bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Allow them to rise and double in size for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the area's temperature.
Meanwhile, put the fine breadcrumbs in a shallow, wide container.
Punch the dough lightly to expel gas bubbles. Transfer the dough to a flat surface and cut it in half.
Roll them into log shapes, and then cut each log into equal, desired pieces. Roll the dough pieces in the breadcrumbs until fully covered.
Arrange them on a baking sheet filled with parchment or baking paper, leaving about 1 to 2 inches of space for rising.
Cover the dough balls with a clean dish towel and set aside for 20–30 minutes to double in size.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (360 °F). Bake for 15 minutes, or until the sides are golden brown and cooked, then remove them from the oven.
Serve warm with your favorite hot beverage, such as hot chocolate "sikwate", coffee, milk, or tea. Enjoy!
