Boiling the sago
Pour in enough water in a deep pot to cover the sago pearls. Turn the heat on and set it to medium.
Add the tapioca or sago pearls and stir. Cook them until soft, chewy, and translucent. Remove from heat, rinse well, and drain. Put the boiled sago in a container with a lid.
Note: You can cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions.
Heating the silken tofu
Put the silken tofu into a steamer container and steam for about 8 minutes, or until the tofu is heated through.
Note: The microwave will do; just put the silken tofu in a microwave-compatible dish and heat them thoroughly for about a minute.
Making the sugar syrup
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and vanilla. Turn the heat on to medium and bring them to a boil.
Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and start simmering them for 3 minutes, or until the sugar turns to syrup.
Note: Stir the mixture as necessary to avoid burning at the bottom of the pan.Turn off the heat and transfer them into a prepared container.
Serving
To serve, scoop a small cup full of heated silken tofu. Top with tapioca or sago pearls. Add brown sugar syrup on top and drizzle with condensed milk if desired. Serve warm and enjoy.
