This Ginisa dish contains canned sardines, chayote, and pechay, making it tasty, delightful, and nutritious. Udong noodles are added to the dish to make the texture more appetizing. When you're in a hurry to cook a meal, this recipe is a wonderful substitute for instant noodles, and it's even healthier than them.

Preparation:

  1. Peel the chayote, remove seeds, and thinly slice. Then chop the spices needed.

Cooking:

  1. Heat a pot with 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and saute until it turns light brown. Then add the onion and saute for 30 seconds. And add the chops and tomatoes; saute until soft.

  2. Add the chayote slices and saute for 2 minutes. Then add fish sauce and stir.

  3. Add water, cover with a lid, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.

    Note: The amount of water varies. If you want more soup, add more water if desired.
  4. Add two cans of sardines; add the udong noodles and pechay stem. Stir, cover, and cook for 3 minutes.

  5. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste.

    Note: The amount of salt varies with the amount of water used.
  6. Taste it and adjust the flavor as needed.

  7. Add the pechay leaves and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Then remove from heat.

  8. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot.
