  1. Let’s begin with our dry ingredients. In the mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.

  2. In a small container, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir until fully dissolved.

  3. Pour the mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Add butter, cooking oil, egg, and fresh milk. Then hand-mix until a rough dough is formed.

    Note: You may use a dough mixer if one is available for faster and easier kneading.
  4. Transfer the dough to a flat surface and knead the dough until the texture becomes fine. Shape the dough into a round.

  5. Return the dough to the mixing bowl. Cover the mixing bowl with cloths and let it sit for an hour to allow the dough to rise until roughly doubled in size.

  6. Later, transfer the dough to the flat surface again and divide it with a dough slicer into four equal pieces and roll them into a cylindrical shape.

  7. Then slice them with a dough slicer into desired-size individual pieces of the pandesal. Usually 20 to 25 grams per piece.

  8. Dredge the sliced dough into the breadcrumbs and place it on a baking tray. Arrange them with gaps between the dough and allow the dough to rise for 10 to 15 minutes.

  9. Pre-heat the oven at 370–380 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.

  10. Place the baking pan with the pandesal dough in the oven, and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  11. Once done, turn off the oven and take out the hot pandesal.

  12. Serve hot with a hot cup of coffee or sikwate (Filipino hot chocolate).
