Sunny Side Up Eggs

A sunny side up eggs is a super easy dish to make. Almost no skill is required to do this. The egg is fried on only one side until the egg white has set and is firm but the yolk is still runny. In the Philippines, this practice of cooking the egg is called “malasado,” from the Spanish word meaning “under-cooked.” This is typically served in the morning for most of the Filipino people as a breakfast dish with a side of sinangag, or fried rice in English. This is also great to pair with sliced bread. There is no set pairing for this fried egg; everyone is free to pair it with whatever they want to eat.

Instructions

  1. Prepare a pan and heat it up over medium to low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and swirl it to lightly coat the bottom of the nonstick pan.

  2. While the oil heats up, crack the eggs into the pan and season them with a pinch of salt and ground black pepper to taste.

  3. Fry the eggs until they begin to change color. Wait until the egg white is firm on top but the yolk is still runny.

  4. When the eggs are cooked, remove them from the pan using a spatula. Place it on a dish and use paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Note: It's best to use a nonstick pan to make this dish.
  5. Happy cooking. Share and enjoy eating.
