Beef mechado, also known as Mechadong Baka, is a Filipino beef stew made with chunks of meat in a tomato-based sauce. It is accompanied by chopped tomato, potatoes, and onion. It is typically served on special occasions or on regular days. It's a hearty and savory dish that goes well with warm rice.

  1. Prepare the beef meat and slice it into ¼ inch thick slices and thinly slice the pork fat.

  2. In a pan, heat the cooking oil and fry the sliced potatoes. Set aside.

  3. In the same pan, fry the meat until it turns golden brown. Remove from the heat.Transfer it to a cooking pot.

  4. Add the chopped tomato, sliced onion, soy sauce, bay leaves, and pepper powder.

  5. Pour 1 cup of warm water into a cooking pot over the meat. Bring it to a boil over low to medium heat until the meat is tender.

  6. Add the pan-fried potato that was previously set aside.Taste and adjust accordingly.

  7. Turn off the heat. Transfer it into a serving bowl.

  8. Serve, share, and enjoy eating.
