Open the scallop shell, remove the meat from it and any dirty bits, rinse them, and set it aside.
Scald the scallop shells for a few minutes in hot water. Remove the scallop shells from the hot water; rinse and pat them dry. Then return the scallop meat to the shell.
Heat a skillet to medium-high. Add the butter and let it melt, then add the mayonnaise, salt, and pepper; stir to combine well.
Place the scallops on an oven tray lined with baking paper . Bake scallops in pre-heated oven of (375°F) for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, remove the tray from the oven and gently drain the scallop broth. Keep it for the next recipe, if desired.
Divide and spoon the mayonnaise mixture evenly among the scallops. Top with shredded cheese.
