Ube Turon Halaya with Langka
Description
Turon is thought to have started in villages in the Philippines among banana trees and agriculture fields. Originally, banana turon was prepared with thinly sliced bananas (saba or cardaba bananas) and a slice of jackfruit, which were dusted with brown sugar and served as fillings before being wrapped in a spring roll wrapper (Lumpia wrapper) and deep-fried until almost completely golden brown. In this recipe we use ube and langka as fillings, which make it unique yet so tasty. This is a great snack for everyday or having a crave for sweet desserts.
Ingredients
Instructions
Peel and cut purple yam (raw ube halaya) and cook until tender.
Mash and add condensed milk. Continue mixing until consistency is reached.
Prepare a piece of lumpia wrapper, add the ube mixture and a piece of sliced langka on top.
Gently roll the wrapper, fold both edges, then bring them to the center and seal them.
Prepare enough cooking oil for deep-frying. Fry the lumpia until it turns golden brown.
Use a table napkin or paper towel to drain excess oil and then serve. Happy eating!
